New Delhi: Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Friday inspected Tejas Express, three days ahead of the high-speed premium train is set to make its first run from Mumbai to Goa. Prabhu inspected the new coaches of Tejas Express and told reporters, \"We have announced about it (Tejas Express) in our 2016-17 Budget, and we are happy to deliver it.\" The first of the Tejas brand of trains, equipped with modern facilities, will run from Mumbai to Goa on May 22. Tejas Express, which will run at a speed of 130 kmph, has coaches equipped with automatic doors, Wi-Fi, and LCD screens. The coaches have been manufactured at the Indian Coach Factory in Chennai. The 20-coach new premium train will run five days a week between Mumbai and Karmali in Goa, and will also have executive class and chair class with the coaches having tea and coffee vending machines, magazines and snacks tables. The Tejas Express also offers assistance through Braille for visually challenged passengers. The coaches also include other novel features like touchless water taps, water level indicators, and hand dryers. All coaches will have bio-vacuum toilets. According to Railway Ministry officials, the train will also have Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras for security purposes. A new highlight of the train is the automatic entrance plug-type doors which provide better sound and heat insulation, and secured gangways that reduce sound levels, dirt, sand, water ingress, adding to passenger safety and comfort. The train also boasts enhanced safety measures like fire and smoke detection and suppression system and fire suppression system in the power car. For passengers, the coaches have GPS-based passenger information display system and digital destination boards. Tejas Express to be flagged off from Mumbai on Monday  The much-awaited Tejas Express, which boasts of several modern facilities onboard like LED TV and tea/coffee vending machine, will be flagged off from Mumbai for Goa on May 22.  Equipped with CCTV cameras besides smoke and fire detection system, the 19-coach Tejas train will have bio- vacuum toilets and GPS-based passenger information display system.  Since the train is equipped with better facilities, the fare will also be slightly higher as compared to normal mail/expre ..  Manufactured at the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, Tejas coaches will have automatic entrance door, a first in non- suburban train in Indian Railways.  There will be tea and coffee vending machines and snack tables at each coach as catering facility for passengers in the new designed coaches.  Promised in the budget, Tejas Express will also be pressed into service in Delhi-Chandigarh and Delhi-Lucknow sectors, according to the railways. Luxurious Mumbai-Goa Tejas from May 22. Mumbai: The luxurious train, Tejas Express, will start running between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Karmali in North Goa on May 22. All preparations have been done for the launch of the 20-coach train, which will have secured gangways, automatic doors, and 22 new features. According to Central Railway officials, the coaches have been manufactured in the Indian Coach Factory, Perambur, Chennai. The train will run at a speed of 130kmph and will cover the distance in nearly eight and a half hours. “The coaches will have bio-vaccum toilets, water level indicators, tap sensors, and hand dryers. Such facilities and features are the first of its kind in the Indian Railways,” said the officials. The five-day-a-week train will depart from CST at 5 a.m. and reach Karmali at 1.30 p.m. Similarly, it will leave Karmali at 2.30 p.m. and reach CST at 11 p.m. The train will have executive class and chair class. “The coaches will have tea and coffee vending machines, magazines, snacks tables, LCD screens, and Wi-Fi,” said the officials. The fare has not been disclosed, but the officials point out that it will be nearly 30% more than that of Shatabdi and other premium trains. General manager Devendra Kumar Sharma confirmed the launch. “Tejas Express will be in the city on May 20 from New Delhi and will be launched by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on May 22.”'
